Rab Borealis Jacket
Inspired by the demands of big wall climbing, the Borealis Jacket is Rab's lightest softshell, combining wind resistance, high breathability and a small packsize.
Perfect for scrambling up mountains, the Rab Borealis Jacket is the ideal addition to your outdoor adventures. Constructed using a lightweight Matrix double weave, this jacket offers an abundance of comfort and stretch so you can remain comfortable at all times. The lightweight fabrication offers a 2-way stretch so you'll never feel restricted as you explore the unbeaten path. The stretchy fabrication allows you to achieve a full range of motion in all direction because your clothing choice should never inhibit your natural motion. The Borealis combines wind resistance and high breathability to ensure complete comfort in any weather. The wind-resistant fabrication helps to block out cold winds so you can remain warm when temperatures drop. As well as this, the jacket allows a comfortable level of ventilation that keeps you cool when temperatures drop. The fabrication allows cool air to flow throughout the garment whist, at the same time allowing hot, humid air to escape; this creates a perfect microclimate for your skin to thrive in. The jacket has also been treated with DWR which works to repel light rain. To provide added protection, a hood can be used to shield your face when the weather takes a turn for the worse. A regular fit is designed to be slim fitting but not too tight, it supplies comfortable coverage that moves with you and provides enough room for layering if you require it. The fit also ensures freedom of movement because your clothing choice should never inhibit your natural motion. A front zip exists for complete temperature control, it can be worn up to seal in the heat and zipped down to release an intolerable heat build-up. A UPF50+ treatment protects you against the suns harmful rays whilst two zippered pockets are perfect for storing small essentials. Completing the Rab Borealis Jacket are reflective branding that increases your visibility to passing vehicles on late night adventures.
Rab's story began in 1981 in the attic of a small, terraced house in Sheffield where Rab Carrington made the first sleeping bag to bear his name. Hand-stitched and devised with his own ingenious eye, Rab's experience from years spent in the mountains was apparent in his designs, and soon there was popular demand both from friends and the growing local climbing community.
Things didn't stop there. Word soon spread, and the Sheffield attic became a factory floor, creating sleeping bags and jackets for customers far and wide. Now, decades later, those honest, hard-wearing designs can be found all over the world; wherever adventurous individuals face up to the elements. From Himalayan peaks to cold, crisp evenings around a campfire.
Over the past decade, Rab has continued to move from strength-to-strength, with increased popularity both in the UK and beyond and the introduction of iconic pieces such as the Microlight Alpine and Kinetic Plus. From far away frozen summits to the hills of the Peak District, you will find Rab products all over the world.
